A FastPass is like a virtual holder for your place in line. You can reserve rides, character experiences, and secure places to sit for a show up to 60 days prior to checking in. Then, on the day you visit the park to experience what you reserved, you do not have to wait in the “stand-by” queue. They are free of charge and available to anyone who visits Walt Disney World. Guests who stay at a Disney World Resort do have the BIG advantage of reserving these before anyone else.
FastPasses are available to reserve 60 days in advance of your check in when you are staying on Disney Property or 30 days in advance of the actual day you will use the Fastpass if you are staying off-property. (This means you have to reserve each day’s FastPasses separately when each of your park days are 30 days away).
This is a great way to see your favorite attractions without waiting on the longest lines. You get three FastPasses initially per day and they all have to be at the same park. Once you use them, you can add one FastPass at a time. These are all made through your My Disney Experience account. FastPasses do not work the same for each park so I want to break down the tiers for you:
For the Magic Kingdom you can reserve any three different attractions you would like. The only limitation here is that it has to be three different attractions.
The other three parks have “Tiers” that you can choose from which makes it a bit more confusing.
Epcot has 2 tiers. You can choose one option from the first tier and 2 options from the second tier.
|Tier 1||Tier 2|
Frozen Ever After
Turtle Talk with Crush
The Seas with Nemo & Friends
Living with the Land
Journey into Imagination
Pixar Film Festival
Hollywood Studios: Updated to include 2020 changes!
Hollywood Studios has 2 tiers. With the addition of Smuggler’s Run to tier 1, we now have more options in the second tier. You choose one option from tier 1 and two options from tier 2. In the short term, Rise of the Resistance is still a Virtual Queue.
|Tier 1||Tier 2|
|Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run|
Slinky Dog Dash
|Alien Swirling Saucers|
Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster
Tower of Terror
Toy Story Midway Mania
Voyage of The Little Mermaid
Disney Junior Dance Party
Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular
Beauty and the Beast
Muppet Vision 3D
Animal kingdom has 2 tiers. Both Pandora attractions are on tier 1. You choose an option from tier 1 and two options from tier 2.
|Tier 1||Tier 2|
|Flight of Passage|
Na’vi River Journey
Kali River Rapids
Finding Nemo the Musical
It’s Tough to be A Bug
Festival of the Lion King
Adventurers Outpost Character Greetings
Rivers of Light
Tap ‘N’ Grab!! – Additional Fastpasses throughout your day and how to maximize!
You have reserved 3 Fastpasses for the park you are visiting and you are about to use your third Fastpass. As soon as each person in your group taps their bands/cards and redeems their third Fastpass, bring up your My Disney Experience App. Start searching for the next attraction/meet ‘n’ greet/show you would like to Fastpass. At this time, it does NOT need to be in the same park as you are in now (this is why we love Park Hoppers!) You can reserve in another park & hop there to redeem it.
- Find the attraction you would like to reserve.
- Reserve it for the time closest to when you would like to go.
- Once reserved, you can click on the Fastpass to modify it to see if there is a better time for you.
Once you redeem that Fastpass, you can start the process all over again. If you are quick, you can stack up quite a few Fastpasses in a day. We have utilized as many as 7!
Choosing Fastpasses can be a bit confusing if you have never done it before and the My Disney Experience app can be tough to navigate if it’s your first or second time and you are rushing to get the passes you desperately want. I also help with writing up daily touring plans which can help you maximize your time in each park. If you would like assistance with this, let me help you with reserving your package and planning out your trip! See Ya Real Soon!
