Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is one of my absolute favorite events in Walt Disney World. I love the fall decor, the characters all dressed up in their own costumes, the ride overlays, and of course, the candy! The best part of the evening is definitely the entertainment. The stage shows, parade, and fireworks are not to be missed. They are the reason we return year after year for these parties (that and the smaller crowds!).

The parade, Boo to You, is one of the most fun parades we get to see all year. We love seeing the Headless Horseman, ghosts from the Haunted Mansion and Ralph & Vanelope. Plus, the song is so catchy and we find ourselves singing it as soon as Halloween Decor hits the shelves back at home.

Disney has announced that there will be a new addition to the Boo to You Halloween Parade. A “Tomorrowland Unit” will bring the Incredibles along with Edna Mode, Buzz Lightyear, and his green Alien friends. The Incredibles will have their own “super” floats and Buzz will have a galactic float where he will be accompanied by the aliens. These will be a great addition and will be a fun way to bring Tomorrowland into the parade. I cannot wait to see it in September. Hint: The second Parade is always less crowded.

In addition to Parade enhancements, a new interactive Trick-or-Treat trail will debut in Tomorrowland; “Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular” at Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor. I am curious to see how they will make it interactive – another reason I cannot wait to visit.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party starts August 16th and runs through November 1st on select nights. Purchase your tickets early to guarantee entrance. They only allow a certain number to keep the crowd smaller than an average day at the parks. These parties will sell out. Hint: We find Sunday & Tuesday parties to be the least crowded!

On Christmas Eve, we always allow each child to open up one gift. It has always been Holiday pajamas and a new Christmas story for us to read. They always know that is what they are getting so it really is not all that exciting to open. Well, one year we decided to have coordinating shirts made and wrapped those instead. They slowly unwrapped them with zero enthusiasm and were super surprised to get their shirts. We told them we were heading there for their Easter break and they were all shocked. It was a great surprise!

Opening Dates Announced!!

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is set to open this Summer in Disney World but not everything will open at once.  The second ride, Rise of the Resistance is set to open on December 5^th – Walt’s Birthday! – in Walt Disney World and January 17^th in Disneyland.

This new and innovative ride technology will immerse guests in a way that they never have been before. It will put guests in the middle of an epic battle between the Resistance and the First Order.  Join Rey, General Organa at their secret base along with other Heroes of the Resistance to escape the Star Destroyer and Kylo Ren.

What we Know so Far:

• There will not be Fastpasses for either of these rides
• Disney is currently exploring several options to provide guests with the best experience possible
• The minimum height requirement will be 40” or taller
• Some VIP Private Tours may include access to this section of Hollywood Studios but they will be limited (I am happy to look into one and set it up for you)

The Final Unwrapping!

Last week, Disney finished unveiling the Gondalas for the Skyliner. They are SO fun! This is a huge milestone in their construction journey and we are getting so close to getting a ride in these babies!

Yep, the Haunted Mansion will probably be my favorite! It is a really nice touch to a very useful form of transportation. Just as a reminder, opening this fall, these gondolas will transport guests staying at Art of Animation, Pop Century, Caribbean Beach, and Disney’s New Riviera Resort to both Hollywood Studios and Epcot. It will give a much needed assist to the buses and make it easier & faster to get to and from those parks. Take a peek at the fun video below!

Historically, Fall discounts have been released from mid-June to mid-July. A few weeks back, we spoke about the Disney Villain take-over of Magic Kingdom’s After Hours Event that will occur on select nights this summer. Since then, Disney has released all of the perfectly themed treats & sips they will be having at the event. They almost look to amazing to eat. Almost.

Disney’s Culinary Artists designed some pretty fantastic options. These special items are inspired by Dr. Facilier, Hades, Maleficent, Emporer Zurg, and more! These can be found at different locations throughout the park and are available for a small charge. Here are the descriptions of the scrumptiousness that can be found at this special event and where you can find them:

• Dragon’s Breath Float, Storybook Treats – lemon soft-serve and sprite topped with a green cherry and cherry-flavored syrup
• Intergalactic Noodles, Cool Ship – chilled noodle salad with snap peas, red onion, and sweet garlic chili sauce
• Yzma’s Llama Potion, Cool Ship – dry ice-infused vessel filled with Strawberry Fanta
• De Vil’s Treat, Casey’s Corner – brownie topped with black and white icing
• Headless Horseman Browkie, Liberty Square Popcorn Cart – half-chocolate chip cookie, half-brownie topped with a chocolate piece featuring the Headless Horseman

If you will be visiting Disney World this Summer, I highly suggest this event. After Hours at Magic Kingdom is a fantastic event that gives you an opportunity to see the park so empty. The photo opportunities are amazing, as are the number of attractions and characters you can see in just a few short hours. Now – add in the Villainous Takeover with all the yummy food options – it is not to be missed.

Guests who add MaxPass to their Disneyland Reservation can take advantage of unlimited photo downloads as well as make Fastpass reservations right from their smartphone. Now in addition, guests can reserve Disneyland’s “Fantasmic” and California Adventure’s “World of Color”

The MaxPass is an excellent value for what you receive. It can maximize your time in the parks as well as allow you to see more and wait less. The memories you get to download are priceless so it is completely worth it. Now, with the addition of the Nighttime Spectacular option, I think this is a no-brainer and I will definitely take advantage of it when we travel there later this year.

I think it is important to note that reserving one of the Nighttime Spectaculars when you arrive in the parks will not stop you from making other FastPasses throughout the day. You do not have to wait for it to expire to get another. It will be separate so reserve your favorite nighttime show and see your favorite attractions all day! Happy Planning!
