New Halloween Party Coming to California Adventure

The Oogie Boogie Bash will be spooking guests from September 6th – October 31st. This is a separate ticket event that will treat guests to all new entertainment & character interactions. This includes a special version of “World of Color”, “Villainous!”.

Other Halloween “treats” include:

Treat Trails: New immersive trails that will contain characters, possibly even Oogie himself! At the end of the trail, guests will emerge to great big cauldrons of candy to pick from.
DescenDance – A great new interactive Dance Party! The best dancers from Isle of the Lost come to teach us some moves. Groove to all your favorite songs from the Descendants movies!
“Frightfully Fun Parade” – Mickey, Minnie, several other characters, and some of your favorite Villains will delight and cause mischief along the parade route!
Mickey’s Trick and Treat Show – Targeted towards the littles at the party, Mickey and his pals tell stories and enjoy a Halloween Party. Plenty of dancing and candy at this show!
Meet & Greets – Meet with some of your favorites and look for special encounters with villains!
Tickets are limited per party so enjoy shorter wait times at your favorite attractions.

Tickets go on sale April 30th, however if you have an Annual Pass, Disney Visa, or are a DVC member, you can get tickets on the 23rd of April.

Early park entry will be available. The party starts at 6pm but you can get in 3 hours early on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 4 hours early on Sundays. Guests will also be able to get into the party’s 4 hours early on the 29th and 31st.

Update: Epcot Nighttime Spectaculars

After two decades, we are sadly saying goodbye to the Epcot Nighttime Spectacular Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. September 30th will be its last show. If this was a favorite of yours, be sure to catch it one more time this Summer!

Coming October 1st, “Epcot Forever” will make its debut. While I am sad to see Illuminations go, I am super excited for this new show. I hold a special place in my heart for a lot of the past attractions of Epcot (Horizons & Kitchen Cabaret!!!) and that is exactly what this new show will celebrate. It will focus on the past, present, and future of Epcot. Our favorite Epcot tunes will be played through the show as well.

Epcot Forever will run into 2020 and then the new, more permanent Nighttime Spectacular will begin. Not much has been announced about it but stay tuned for details.

It’s a Villainous Takeover!!

Remember the After Hours we discussed here and how they are extending the events into the summer? Well the Disney Villains just decided to take over all of the After Hours at the Magic Kingdom from June 6th-August 8th.

The After Hours will take on a wicked theme (wicked but not scary!) and the Magic Kingdom will offer special merchandise, entertainment, food & beverages, and more! New additions for these Villainous evenings:

A new Villain Stage Show – Hades will star in this awesome new entertainment and will be joined by Jafar, The Queen, Dr. Facilier, and Maleficent.
Maleficent the Dragon – This alone excites me tremendously. Maleficent in her dragon form will be out for the first time at night! I cannot wait to see how amazing she will look when she breathes fire in the dark.
Ride Enhancements – Experience how some of the rides will be different – Pirates of the Caribbean & Space Mountain.
Food & Beverage – Try new and fun evil options inspired by the Villains themselves.
Merchandise – There will be new logo merchandise avaialble for these special After Hours in addition to a great display of their typical Villain merchandise.
You!! – You can dress up as your favorite villain – just be sure to adhere to Disney’s Costume Policy

‘Illuminations:Reflections of Earth’ to Stream Live

Later this year, Illuminations will be retired and Epcot will be getting a whole new Nighttime Spectacular. It is very exciting but I know that many will miss Illuminations, myself included! As a treat and to celebrate this long time running show, Disney is going to stream Illuminations live.

“WEB” Comes to Disneyland

Tony Stark has created and founded the Worldwide Engineering Brigade. This new organization will be used to develop super-powered technology. Current projects include a new and enhanced super suit for Spider-Man. They are looking for new recruits and together, you can help them protect Earth. The WEB facility will allow guests more interaction with some of their favorite superheroes. The new technology offered at the facility will let guests experience what it is like to be a super hero.

Guests can join the heroes in action soon at Disney’s California Adventure at Disneyland Resort. The WEB facility will be a part of a new land that is currently being created for the park. Stay tuned for the opening date!

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Opening Dates Announced

Disney has announced those most Magical dates we have all been waiting for! Opening dates for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open on May 31st in Disneyland and August 29th at Walt Disney World!

Because of the demand and how excited guests have been to see this land, Disney World has decided to open the land in phases. This will get guests in as early as possible however it does mean that not everything will be open. On opening day, you will be able to experience Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. Guests will be able to take control of the ship and hold on for a wild ride. In phase 1, guests will also get to experience all of the food and merchandise we have all been waiting to see.

Phase 2 will have to opening to the second ride, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. This is said to be one of the most innovative and immersive experiences of our time. An opening date for this specific attraction has not yet been released. We are only being told “later this year”.

Tell me this does not look amazing!! Somewhere Sheldon is Bazinga-ing all over the place.

In Disneyland, Galaxy’s Edge is supposed to be opening all at once – no phases. Guests who plan to visit between opening day and June 23rd will need to make a no-cost reservation to visit the land in addition to theme park admission. After that, no reservation is required, only theme park admission.

New to Epcot!

Beginning March 6, 2019 Coco will be joining us in the Mexico Pavilion! With the help of Mariachi Cobre and Folklórico dancers, Coco’s story will be shared in a way it never has been before. The artists will tell the story of Miguel and his journey to find his family through song and dance. The Mariachi Cobre will play music and get everyone participating in this great story. Miguel will be with us through the Flower & Garden Festival.

While Ralph and Vanellope have been meeting with guests for a while now over at innoventions, it was time for a change. The imagineers at Imageworks have invited them through a portal from their dimension into ours! Guests can continue to meet with Ralph and Vanellope in the Imageworks section of Journey Into Imagination. Say hi to my friend Figment while you are there!

Big Things at Animal Kingdom in 2019!

Animal Kingdom is going to be a special place to visit in 2019! New things are being added and limited time magic is happening at a few locations as well. This year, the Disney animated film “The Lion King” turns 25. “The Lion King” has always been a huge part of Animal Kingdom and now we are celebrating it even more!

Now through September 30th, guests can party with Lion King’s Timon & Rafiki as well as other jungle friends, Meeko, Turk, Koda, & Baloo. Guests can sing, dance, and jump around with all of the “party animals”. Also, a new Tree of Life Awakenings will take place each night at dusk. The tree will light up to scores from the move “The Lion King” and will showcase Simba’s journey through the movie.

You just never know what creatures you are going to run into while in Animal Kingdom. Recently, a familiar face was seen migrating right through the park! Kevin! Krababble! This sweet snipe from Up has made it right to the park’s Discovery Island! The castmembers at Disney are using this opportunity to teach us all about bird migration. Because of Disney’s location, several birds use the park as a stop over during their trip. Learn about Kevin and many other birds and their migration patterns. Oh – and be careful if you are traveling with any chocolate in your pockets.

New Sail Away Deck Party

The Disney Wonder and Disney Magic are hosting a new Deck Party!! The new Sail-A-Wave goodbye party is the perfect way to officially kick off the start to your cruise and countdown till sail-away.

Guests can dance, sing, and play along with Mickey, Minne, Donald, Goofy & Pluto and the Disney Cruise Line Castmembers on the upper decks of each ship. Want to be a part of the Magic? Guests can dress as their favorite Disney Character or in their best sail-away themed clothes and strut their stuff down the runWave.
